Noticed a crack appearing in my windscreen the other day. Started at the bottom under the seal and has spread up and turned 90 degrees now. Not been hit by a stone or anything. Any ideas or has anyone had similar. Trip to the dealers next week to hopefully get replaced under warranty

Well, mine is cracked, but that was from flying through the desert and a rock flying up and hitting it.
Hopefully they cover yours under warranty... mine is going to be about US$1000 to replace!

Andy same thing happen to me , but it was from the top down .
This happen last summer , it was a very very hot day , when I parked it up in the morning
it was fine and when I came back at lunch there it was .
must have been a small crack ,that under the stress of heat got worse, might be the same
for you but at this time of year the stress is caused by the cold.
Anyways , went to garage and got a new glass under my insurance , (no loading or excess on the policy)
this I think is a must have (ie glass cover) on a D3 insurance policy as the glass is quite expensive
and there is a lot of it.

Sorry if I am being dim, but don't 90% (if not all) insureres replace screens with no loss of no claims and only a minimal excess if at all.
My insurance actually has no excess for screens, had mine done in January. Bottom line is Insurers recognise that drivers have no chance when stone thrown up and hits screen therefore they do not penalise the driver when it happens.
If yours does get another.

Nicknick ... your not being dim mate... some policies do not cover glass (that is damage caused by stones)
and will ask you for a partial payment on the replacements cost (policy excess) , the thing that these companies
will say is that making a claim for glass will not effect your no claims bonus ... also some companies will cover you
for glass up to a value of a couple of hundred euros/pounds. , if there is a short fall you will be paying it.
and lastly some companies will cover the glass , but not the labour charge of the fitter.
My advice , check your policy.. and don't assume "glass cover" covers every cost if you have to make a claim
check the small print or ask the question ... you might be surprised with the answer you get.
