Just had a phone call from National Windscreens who have agreed to replace the screen with a genuine Land Rover one, not a stock item so they have ordered one in, should be fitted later this week.

So, just to re-iterate my previous advice.. Take Loads of Photos before they do your screen.
I sent the photos in this post to National Windscreens senior management who accepted the screen was not fitted correctly.
Fingers crossed it all works out well in the end.

Same as my dealership. Any none LR parts strictly speaking make the warranty invalid but as long as it was the same Pilkington Glass they didn't have too much of an issue if the sensor had packed up.

Where there IS a problem is that the cheap none Pilkington glass DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY WITH THE RAIN SENSOR. END OF!!

I know this from bitter experience and several trips to AutoGlass HQ in Aston. They will also confirm that the cheap glass causes problems for the rain sensor and so they will get genuine stuff first time round! Flag on the system for Discovery 4 after my escapade!

Also as an FYI, the roof glass (single Panel) also has to be genuine LR as the Chinese version doesn't have the bonded GPS aerial bracket and they are slightly narrower. Again, the guys at Aston branch new this instantly because they were involved in changing a couple hundred of them for LandRover on a big recall some years ago. Apparently LR even built them ramps so the Autoglass technicians could 'walk' the panel up the car and change them more quickly.

Kindest,

Jonathan

Good to know, I had to turn up the sensitivity on my auto wipe even after I 'fixed' the sensor bracket.
Hopefully when the screen is replaced I will be able to dial it down a bit..

You can turn up the sensitivity of the auto wipers?

Presumably you can turn them down as well?

Well, the saga continues..
National Windscreens (NW)did replace the screen with a genuine Land Rover screen.
Unfortunately they have fitted it too low on the car again, it is not located centrally between the A pillars and they didn't centralise the top seal on the screen before fitting it.
Also the lower seal/cowl does not touch the windscreen on the drivers side of the screen, the gap is big enough for leaves to pass through (and they do).
The top seal is designed to fit over the roof weather strip and assists in retaining it, NW have just butted the seal up to the weather strip (not retaining it) hence the screen is too low.
I have taken a close up photo of the seal and weather strip clearly showing the recess where the weather strip should sit, NOTE in this photo I am holding the weather strip down with my fingers otherwise it sits up above the seal..

They have also fitted the A pillar trim clips in the wrong positions, again this photo shows what they have done, the white clip in the top position should be in the bottom position, the three middle clips are correct and the yellow clip should not even be on the car..

The battle continues...
