Wondered if anyone had heard of the crank bolt coming loose? Under what circumstances would you expect that to happen?
I had thought that there is a possibility that the crank snapped and the force of the sudden stop caused it to come undone except for the fact the engine turns clockwise (I think) so I then thought maybe someone can’t read or torque the bolt up to spec (seems more likely) either way it’s knackered the cams and cam caps, snapped the chains and broken one tensioner, going to take the heads of hopefully with the engine in but I think it will be easier if i take it out! .
Anyone seen this before?
Many thanks
Sean

That would take some explaining
I just hope the crank is okay on mine although I do have a spare but I needs a regrind, but I’m not overly keen on that what are your experiences with crank regrinds on these disco_mikey?
iv got some “good” complete heads luckily so fingers crossed it’s not put any gouges in the pistons but I fear it will have..
To be honest the truck looks like it’s had some real cowboys looking after it, the wiring loom is a mess wires spliced in, pretty much all the protective conduit is gone and it’s just cabletied together.. So a second hand loom will be on the list of parts too! [/quote]

Conduit does fall off wiring.
A secondhand loom will be no better
ESP when removed, posted and refitted

I know it does, the heat makes it brittle then it falls off if you just look at it
I should have added it’s had wires spliced in all over the place mainly on the injection loom which I don’t like, perhaps I’m being a little ocd about it but for £35 it can be made a bit better looking under the bonnet
I may add some photos of the damage parts when I strip in all down properly,

I did try and find some heatproof split conduit, but gave it up as a bad job!
Pics always good for future ref purposes
