hello I'm new on here. Is there someone that can help me with a little issue I have had a leak from the crankshaft seal on disco 3 2007 2.7. I have changed the seal for a genuine part from land rover also. I changed the timing belt and Tensioner whilst I was there. But when I started the engine it started leaking again very badly. I was very confused. Then also the engine come to a sudden stop like the tensioner had slipped Censored This is my Situation please could somebody advise me for my next step
Much appreciated thank you.

Welcome.
Start by looking through this video - both the front and rear seals are installed with full audio description (the guy is brilliant)!! I am assuming you are talking about the front seal?

1 you need a special tool to insert
2 need to let it rest for 5? Hours before starting engine.
On a 2007 you should change the oil pump if it’s not the new strengthened one around the tensioner mounting.

Before you spend any money it might be a good idea to inspect the timing belt. This is to check that the oil pump has not fractured and your engine has been damaged. If it has the damage may hopefully be repairable. Unfortunately failure of the oil pump seems most common shortly after a timing belt change.
If the pump has fractured don't despair come back here.
Good Luck
John
Edit If this is a false alarm the replacement seal should be installed absolutely dry.

Thank you yes seal was inserted dry but I started up straight after and I have been reading and apparently you have to leave it 5 to 7 hours before u start it again. Thank u i will investigate the pump and timing first. Engine still turns over is I'm hoping its not to bad k.slingsby
Just for info I know its been stated that you need to leave the car 5 to 7 hours after seal fitting, if you use the correct tools for mounting and aligning the seal, the wait is not required, I did hundreds of Oil seal changes over the years and never once did I wait to start the engine.
Geoff and I did six Oil pump and belt changes in one day and started the car's as soon as we had finished them with no problems. As many on here can testify this.
Just fit the seal with the correct tools and no problems.
