Crying or Very sad Today on the way home from work the cruise control would not operate. No matter which button was pressed, nothing happened. Any ideas???

My dealer advised my particular random failure of cruise control is associated with a known engine management software issue. I had the latest down load today while it was in for a service. A road test has demonstrated it is now fixed.Razz

I concur, mine was eventually fixed after a software update, replacement clock spring didn't make any difference

Clock spring will generally manifest as an SRS airbag warning as well as failure of cruise cont.
I had both software & clock spring let go.
Clock spring replacement ended SRS warnings but cc was still intermittent. Dealer removed "A stray code'' from the system and it has not failed since (10 months).
Cheers

Coming back from Yeovil (Visit to Nick for some goodies) had the cruise control problem 3 times.

De-activated it due to slower vehicles...then nothing would work.

Pulled over, switched off and re-started....CC OK...until de-activated again then no cruise buttons working.

Had this a third time....exactly the same.

After 4th re-start CC all OK....de-activated and re-activated about 30 times and at different speeds and all seems OK.

Going in for service on Tuesday so I will mention it and maybe it will get sorted with latest computer enhancements.

Mine also does this on every trip... the cc will work initially, maybe sometimes for an hour or more, but then at random after disengaging, it won't come back on. If I cycle the ignition then all will be OK again for a short while. I read the "issues" on here and assumed it was the clock spring, but that doesn't seem to tally with my experience. All of the other switches, airbag light etc seem to behave as they should. Does anyone know what software patch I should point my dealer to? Thanks.

I've just had this problem with intermittent operation of my CC, the switch was changed at around 40000K and started to play up again at 95000K. The problem this time was a loose body to motor earth.

Is there a TSB for the software update? Mine was driving me mad when I was off a couple of weeks ago and I'd like to quote a TSB number at them when I decide to send it in for its next warranty bits...

My cruise control had exactly the same problem. Dealer replaced the switch (under waaranty) three days ago and the problem seems to be solved.

Just had 1st service.........Stealer informed me they found nothing wrong with the CC, but they have had a few others with CC problem, so they claim they have changed the CC switch which seems to have cured their previous reportings......I'll have to see if I get any further problems.

Do I believe the stealer changed the switch.......Nooooooooo

Don't remember seeing a TSB. Mine stopped working after braking or switching off, only switching off and on the engine could reset it. The dealer did a software update, been ok since.
