Cruisecontrol only works now and then:-(

The cruisecontrol on my D3-05 only works now and then. I can use it on and off maybe 5 times and then suddenly i cant re engage. If i stop and start it may start working again, but not always.
The IID tool shows this fault. Any ideas?

I had a new clock spring and 95% of the time it works fine but on the odd occasion it still plays up so next step is to trace the wiring

Thanks! Then i have some clues. It may also be the buttons. Its a D4 steeringwheel with pcb from blackbox solutions. Dont know the quality of this parts.

Had a similar issue with my D3.

Turns out for me it was the wiring harness in the steering wheel and not the clock spring.

For what it’s worth, the steps I went thru checking this and fixing this I covered in this thread

https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/d3-steering...68006.html

Also worth saying I noted a lot of ‘play’ between the steering wheel and clock spring, so I have a diy bodge to reduce the amount of play.

There’s a YouTube vid linked in that post as well, if you can be bothered.

My car has always had issues with the CC.

The workaround that works 95% of the time is not to try and adjust speed using the buttons on the steering wheel too often.

I just disengage CC, alter to my new speed and re-engage. Even then it sometimes decides not to work until the next stop/start.

It's not really a cure and doesn't solve the problem but I just treat it as a 'feature of the car' and live with it.
