you should stay sat on your bike in the garage so that in the event of a fire you will know about it at the earliest opportunity.

The fact you're happy with it doesn't mean it's safe to do it. It's an unnecessary fire risk in an unattended location. But good luck to you.

I'd rather the car caught fire and burnt the house down while I wasn't in said house to be honest Confused

Good point James. Good perspective. Thumbs Up

Hi,
as said already if it does not last a couple of weeks then that could need a dose of looking at Thumbs Up

that said any decent battery charger/monitor should be safe to leave connected, if you put a battery on charge you don't stand over it for hours while it does its job.

I have left motorbikes, lawnmowers and our cars connected to a monitor Thumbs Up
We also leave our caravan for hours on end when on holiday Question there connected to 240v they all have a battery charger built in (may be not exactly the same I know) so your onboard battery is fully charged to run the 12v stuff
And I don't un-plug the TV or fridge or freezer when we go out either Whistle
Don't use a washing machine or the likes on a timer for the wee small hours though, a friends washing machine caught fire at silly O-clock one morning Censored family all in bed, smoke alarm woke them, ALL out safely but kitchen gutted
Incidents can happen.

Last time i was away for 2 weeks both of my batteries discharged enough to start setting the alarm off before i returned hence annoying the neighbours.

In my book that is an electrical fault Whistle something is useing power that shouldn’t be is a recipe for disaster.

I've always had a slightly higher drain than normal but nothing to serious. The main problem is most days I only cover a few miles and even on the days when I have a lot of running around to do its all stop/start so both batteries (replaced 2 or 3 yrs ago and alternator) don't get much charge and I'm using all the toys especially in winter. Once I use her on the motorway once a week or so she's fully charged again. I just must of not charged her or done any motorway miles before last yrs holiday but didn't want to take the chance this year even though I'm sure it would be fine if I charged it before I went.

Always a good move to keep the neighbours happy (ish) anyhow.

Many thanks again for all your responses Thumbs Up
