Cubby hole in NS rear wing

When fitting the detachable tow hook on my D4 I noticed that it is housed in a cubby hole in the NS boot side. The packing & strap for the hook are tight against the boot lining and beyond these is a chasm of a cubby hole with no lining and loose wiring loom cables lying in the bottom. This looks like a very useful spot for storing tow ropes, jump leads, etc etc out of the way and out of sight.

Does any one use this space, have a clever packaging solution to avoid damaging the wiring or outer vehicle skin or is it just not suitable?

That space is where the rear aircon would be installed, just be aware that the air intake for the suspension compressor is also in that space (roughly behind the aux. power socket) so don't go jamming it full of jackets & fleeces etc. otherwise you may get suspension compressor overheat issues

Shocked really...? I never knew that Thumbs Up

Does that mean the intake is inside the car ?
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
