D3 10th birthday
My D3 is now ten years old and is very shortly going for its 100,000 mile birthday.
I bought it two and a half years ago with 76,000 miles on the clock from a local multi make dealer.
Me being retired, it doesn't get an almighty thrashing apart from two or three times a year for holidays and trips to classic car shows, it's mostly local stuff so I service it every year. ( Or, at least my local Indy does).
I absolutely love the old girl, it tows occasionally, full whack 3,500k, and has towed a fork lift weighing around two ton with the drive wheels locked a distance of around 75 yards.
Yes, I've spent a fair bit on it, mainly preventative and little extras.
The advice and help on this forum is fantastic and, I believe, has probably saved me some of the problems that can be encountered.
Here's what I've done so far.
Front lower arms
V8 brake conversion
GVIF and reverse camera
Detachable tow bar (not the LR one)
G/box megaflush and steel sump and replacement filter (G/box)
PCB module and full parking brake service
Replaced ten spoke SE wheels with GS five spoke in dark metallic grey ( so much easier to clean)
Rebuilt front diff (new bearings and seals)
New rear propshaft (centre bearing and UJ naff on old one)
Front wheel bearings (Timken)
Plus minor odd
s and sods.
It's still not as expensive as SWMBO!!
2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE
gvif with reversing camera
V8 brakes with new EPB module and shoes
Later D4 grille
Ferguson ted20 tractor
Hyundai Getz 1.4 (wife's )
