Sorry... That came out wrong!!!!! It was not you that was keeping me awake!!!!!!

I finally got a few hours sleep. I have a head that feels like it is filled with cotton wool, but 3 hours sleep is better than nothing.

I a now waiting for the rest of my family to wake jp, get some breakfast and then I will head over to the car and see if I can nurse her to a garage.

I will probably replace the battery and see what happens because the battery (in my opinion) is certainly a weak point. If that doesn't resolve the problem, I will read what the errors say and post them..

I think alternator and battery are on their way out. Whilst it is about as low as I’d want to see, 13.7V from the alternator isn’t that unusual when powering the car with a fully charged battery in good condition, which you don’t have from the battery voltage numbers. With an dying battery it should be putting out 15.something volts. Looks to me like you’ll need to change both urgently.

But just remember that’s techie advice from a non techie but one who watched the V numbers on my old D3 like a hawk: Thumbs Up

Well... A small update.

I have bought a new battery. I couldn't get the standard one, but they has the AGM battery for a start/stop discovery. (i didn't know that the d3 ever had start/stop).

I have now driven 200km on motorway, and approx 75km on country roads, and everything seems fine.

Also, when i turn the engine off, the battery voltage stays at 12.8V, whereas before it was dropping to 12.1V and even 11.8V.

With engine running, voltage is staying stable at 13.8V.

The Dpf has also managed a regeneration fine, so for me that implies the Dpf is OK.

I will keep my fingers crossed, but it looks as though the Dpf is fine, and the error was a fake caused by a spurious reading causes by the weak battery.

I just hope that I am not talking too soon!! I still have another 450km to go!!

Thanks for all your replies, and sorry if I was "ratty"... I was VERY tired and had 3 adults, 1 child and 2 dogs in the car. On top of that, the mechanic that came to get us was NOT helpful, and simply brought us to the garage, (after pulling the D3 on to the lorry by hooking winch on to the wishbone!!!!!!), arranged payment (covered by ADAC) and then left us to find a taxi and hotel etc!!

Well.... 200km to go.

D3 driving perfectly!!

So it is looking more and more that the problem was the battery.

Who would have thought that the battery could cause a Dpf error??!!??

Dont you love LRs??

Well tbh no surprises there really, the irritating bit for me is when you have two D3's with the same issue the fault codes are different, Shocked yet the remedy was the same ! LR diagnostic comms can be very misleading, which is why it can take many different experiences on here to help nail down an issue.
You did well to get to the bottom of your problem quickly, and on the side of the road too Thumbs Up

My old battery when low was causing DSC to kick in around left hand bends. I had already replaced ARBs, upper and lower arms. However it was only happening when special programs unavailable message popped up. Charged the battery and the problem disappeared. Replaced the battery now and it hasn’t come back!

I must have been lucky because other than a traffic jam to cross the border, no problems. The two croix were open.

Got home though to find my RRS saying Engine Fault when i started her. Battery low. Have set it charging and will see this morning. Battery is new (last year) but it wouldn't surprise me if the alarm has run it flat.

Also found a slight oil stain under her. Got to check that!!
