D3 broken down on motorway (resolved)
Hello all,
I am on my way home after holidays. Everything was going fine until i suddenly got a message that the Dpf filter was full.
The Dpf filter was replaced with a brand new one nog even 1 month ago.
On restarting engine, runs fine, but then same error.
The stange thing is that it also told me that the Special Programs off.
I have noticed that the battery with engine running is at 13.7V.
With engine off but ignition on, voltage is 12.1 or 12.0 (and sometimes even 11.8) even after a run of over 3 hours on motorway.
Do you think that all the problem could in fact be that the battery is failing, and even with the alternator running there is not always enough voltage?
I would appreciate a fast response so that i am not conned in the morning when i take it to a garage.
Many thanks.
Nick

Btw... I am in Valence (France). Is there anyone in the neighbourhood that can help, or can you recommend a good garage?

You help is appreciated!!!!!!!!
I just wondered if you knew them.
Do you have any thought about whether the problem could be the battery?

I would agree if it were not that with the engine running the voltage is at 13.7 volts. This should be high enough to charge the battery shouldn't it?

That is worrying because i dont see that high on my RRS either.
I will see what they say tomorrow. I have found an independent nearby, and will probably give them a call.

Should not be below 14v running and should be above 12 at standstill. Does sound like battery and/or alternator issue causing the errors with special programs etc. But never heard battery issues impacting DPF.
Are you taking the battery readings from an IID tool (or equivalent) or from the hidden menu ?MY2008 D3 - It got me hooked...gone
MY2012 D4 - It kept me hooked...gone
MY2007 D3 - Mid-Life crisis toy continues driving me to bankruptcy...
MY2018 "D5" Si6 - But is it a "true" LR...discuss...but now gone
Back in a D4 with a lot of extras....

13.7v with engine running is OK, Given what you have said I don't think its an alternator issue. Is it a D3 or D4?yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

It is a D3.
Voltage measured from IID.

13.7 is not a problem so long as its consistent. I suspect there's something else causing the fault. Have you been rescued? If so perhaps they can read codes to provide some direction!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Sorry I just spotted you have IID. Check codes of all modules and see what comes up.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
