D3 Cleaning / Polishing
Hi there, just finished Wax the D3, looks 8) , but I have noticed small black spots on the rear doors, bonnet, and lower doors. Its grime and road tar I guess.
How do I get rid of it, and make the D3 showroom looking. I did hear alot about CLAYBAR , is this what I need, and what do I do.
Or is there something else I need

I used to use a claybar a lot to remove love bugs that eat the paint after a while, it works great. You're supposed to spray a 'clay lubricant' with it, but it seems like spraying water works okay. It will remove the wax, so you'll need to redo those spots obviously.I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

I start of with a wash then where the black dots are I use some of this
and then if not giving it a polish use this
I only clay once every six months using the detailer as the wetting agent

I had the same black spots and just sprayed them with WD40, let it soak in for a few seconds and they just wipe away. Ballcocks to all that fancy stuff that Halfords sell...........

I use petrol on a rag , to remove tar.
Dad always had light coloured cars and this has been a problem
since the year dot on bitumen roads.

I had this problem and it turned out to be fly s**t. Found it came off when polished!!Too many older Land Rovers to mention

Yep, petrol on a rag. Forget all the fancy products but you will need to re-polish.

WD-40 and hydrocarbon soaked rags.... looks like I need to re-stock the van Maybe that's where I've been going wrong all these years.

Always found Vim worked well.....also gets rid of that awful night time glare you get from shiny bonnets on modern cars...hard to get these days though

You can also get the scouring pads that are now pre-loaded with a vim type cleaner. Saves on using shampoo, or for that extra finish use lidl's own washing up liquid, for that 'just-washed' finish
