D3 coolant leak - where to check first?

Hi all, recently purchased a 2006 D3 TDV6, manual gearbox. Recent trip to Cornwall and back (1000 mile round trip) hasn’t unearthed any major gremlins apart from a drop in coolant header level - which (thankfully?!) coincides with damp passenger and driver carpets. Any pointers on where to check engine bulkhead side first, before I start removing the dash to inspect the matrix? Common fail points appreciated, thanks.

Can you smell antifreeze from the wet carpets? I ask this as the water ingress might be from the sunroof drains! Check they are flowing freely before you condemn the heater assy.

I’d dismissed the sunroof vents threat as it’s not fitted with one! Seriously though, as a precaution i’ll be checking all the roof, A/B pillar ducts and drains as a precaution this week. I need to mop the carpets next and see if it’s really coolant.

So, update....checked draining from under the scuttle, all seemed fine from the pan under the wiper motor. I’ve covered the “overhang” from the climate control air intake below the windscreen edge and boxed all back up, some of the scuttle clips were loose/broken so wasn’t sealing so well.

However, THERE’S STILL DRIPS! having removed the driver’s side of the centre console and with a tray i’ve caught some more water, it’s not coolant coloured or smelling...answers on a postcard? Where else can hide rainwater in the console?!

Remove scuttle again and trickle water from a hose over the entire area! Are you still dropping coolant?

Both air con condenser drains blocked. Pulled the driver's side off and about 1.5l of water came out! And both drain hoses full to the brim. Blasted through and cleaned - fingers crossed that's it!
