285 50 20s on D4

I am considering the + and - of fitting my 20" wheels to my D4. I wondered if anyone had 285 50 20s on their D4

I know it can be done to the D3 with spacers but am curious if anyone has them on the D4? These are the wheels i have

I've 265/50x20's on my D4 without issues, and fairly sure in the wheels and tyres section, somebody has got 285/50's on theirs

You'd be better shifting this post to there.

Had 285/50/20LTZ's on my D4, but you will get rubbing on the chassis [at the front].
You can get around the rubbing issue by having steering stops fitted in the rack.
It stops the rubbing by giving you slightly less steering lock.
For me, a price that was well worth paying!

Yep, or it can also go on USO. We'll see. Will get my new 265/50/20 winters fitted first. 8)

Thank you. Yes, definitely not. They are pricey too. But the FF rims are easy to find for cheap, everyone seems to swap them out for custom stuff here.

Hello,

Did you have to do any modifications, cutting or bending to get the 275/55/20 tire to fit? Lifting rods? Your truck looks super cool. Thanks!

Thanks for the comments. I use these lift rods:
http://www.britpart.com/all-parts/da7531/

So I can adjust the truck down in the winter when I put stock sized snow tires on.

No cutting or bending, I use a .75" spacer with the RR rims. I have very slight rub on the front chassis arms in the wheel well at full lock, but now that the tires have 3-4K miles, that rub is becoming much less due to the wear.

What model wheel is that on your LR4? And do you know the offsets? Nice looking wheel and tire combo. I run 285/20 Terra Grapplers on my RR HSE and love them.

Ever have any issues with the spacer? I put spacers on a full size RR and the spacers were slipping due to the weight of the rig. Had to remove them for safety issues.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, Edfors, but I am now contemplating the 275/55/20 Haka 8s this winter because my Duratracs wont turn corners on ice and spin up very quickly on our dry snow! Can you tell me how the 8s are on deep-ish snow (12"-18")? The new 9's are out, but I am thinking of going with the 8s or 7s because the reports are that they manage deep snow better (the 7s are also $50 per corner cheaper!)... thoughts please? I am also contemplating the 255/55/20 to give me a narrower profile (wider tyres act like skis, I am told.....
