2012 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 XS Auto Corris Grey

D3 lack of power on acceleration with black smoke

2006 D3 SE model .
Vehicle has been running great and the engine is quiet.
Started to notice a slight noise (vacuum type) when slowing down.
When I go to put my foot down there seems to be lack of power with a plume of black smoke coming from 5be back of the vehicle. When driving normally this is not noticed.
I presume a turbo charger, actuator or turbo pipe split.
Any more info would be much appreciated.

Intercooler pipes are common to split start there

Discovery 3 se gone

Don't discount a split in the intercooler itself too, once you have checked the more obvious options above.

So had a look u def the bonnet today, and the top I tercooler hose has a split in it.
Dilemma now:
Rep,ace with like for like or do I go for a silicone hose ?????

Well it hasn't done too bad if it's the original at 12 years old! I'd stick with standard pipes.

I've seen silicone pipes split, or come off less time than that.

I kinda like silicone pipes - I have them on my D2 after the little elbow under the turbo exploded towing a caravan a few years ago BUT they are very prone to blowing off! The main reason I got them was that LR wanted 3 times the cost of a full set of silicone pipes for just the little elbow..... Pete

hi 200tdi

have u tried the T bolt clamps for the silicone hoses, with them also being wider than conventional clips

if it’s any use will try and find the link for u, as i wrote the sizes down for each pipe

think for the 3 x silicone hoses i paid around £80

2009 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

There is a post about putting hair spray to help the hose to grip the pipes. I know it works for bicycle grips although T clamps should give a good grip.
