Hi Henry - or John - or Henry John,
D3 doesn't have front lockable diff, centre is standard issue.
If you go to for example GGS mode you will see the lockable diffs go green on the info screen.
Non-lockable rear can be replaced for active one but that is not for the weak-hearted.

when doe they go green? is this an auto lock? and how can I test this?
what is GGS?
i was under the impression I could manually lock center and rear...
where can I find a rear locking diff if I haven't got one in the car?
easy install?
who could do that and @ what price?

HJ - you can retro-fit a rear locking diff...but I believe it has only been done once and its not supposed to be easy...and probably not cheap. The rear e-diff is not a common option so is not easily found second hand.
Your rear diff will lock up automatically in certain conditions and in different terrain response modes - eg in mud/ruts when losing traction; rock crawl.
Are you going to Durler ? (Didn't see your name on the x-rover sign-up). If yes, I can show you the settings etc
(And yes - you are behaving yourself over here, just as you said )The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

put terrain response into rock crawl, Low range and select 1st gear - the centre diff lock icon will lockup, as will the rear icon (if you have a locking rear diff) Duncan

No D3 has a locking front diff.
All D3's have an (auto) locking centre diff.
Some D3's have an (auto) locking rear diff.
Hope that's clear?

On earlier cars, the Padlock symbols were green when the diffs were unlocked, going to red (as per the phot above). On the later cars, the unlocked symbol was grey as per your car. This is all controlled by the Terrain Response ECU, which is within the unit where the control knob, height adjuster and range-change levers are.
It is possible to retro-fit the active rear diff (I've done it), but you need to have a good understanding of electrics, as well as a reasonable tool kit!!!Regards,
Mick

you will definatly have a centre locking diff
you can visually check to see if you have the rear locking diff : see here
it is highly unlikely that you have the rear diff, as they weren't a standard fit and relatively few people ordered them.Duncan
