D3 purchase advice
Hi all,
Going to local dealers tomorrow to look at a 04 tdv6S. manual
Silver with 16'000 mls on clock.
Only extra's dealer mentioned is side rubbing strips, although he said he would have to check full spec.
Price was 24k.
What are 04 models retailing for at the moment, googled but pretty varied results.
Only real concern is the land rover warranty cannot have long to run, and this concerns me with future possible problems.
looking to part ex my td5, so not sure of exact figures or deal yet.
Any views or advise on price etc really appreciated.

Ouch! 04 will be a demo or press vehicle and 24K should get you something much better. Where in Scotland are you?
That is expensive.
Have a look at Sturgess landrover in Leicester.
They are quite good for second hand prices (not so good for new) they work on a small profit big turnover on used and sell lots over the internet.

Ask for Michael Griffin and say that Cliff Heffernan (ex silver 06) recommended them.Zermatt silver 06 reg.

Thanks for the link to the dealers, quite keenly priced, so now have a bit of bargaining info
Still going to have a look tomorrow, if nothing else will get a road test of the 3

Some say that the very early ones are actually the best.
They were probably assembled pretty carefully and some of the components will be higher quality. I have a Nov 04 model, and my brake discs hubs are still silver, almost every other D3 I see the hubs are a lovely shade of rust!
They galvanised or treated the discs on the very early models, then stopped for some reason.
Approaching 70k now and boringly reliable No significant problems since 8500 miles.

Was told on the phone it was a 04.
They must have meant a 54 as someone else above stated they went on sale nov 04, hence 54.

Outcome
Visited local dealer today, and had my first drive of a 3
Very impressed with the car, pity about the dealer
Car was priced at £24995, although told on phone 24k.
54 plate, registered dec 04.
Was S spec, although no front fog lights fitted, I thought all S models had the front fogs, although dealer said early ones didn't.
Only extra's were sunroofs and side rubbing strips.
Car had covered 13'000 mls.
Now for the not so good bit, by the time he added 6 months road tax, £20 worth of fuel and various other trivial costs to the price
End result was with me part exchanging my dec 2000 td5, balance of around 18 something k to pay.
Needless to say, deal didn't happen, as 18k for a move of 4 yrs is a bit over the top.
He insisted this was his best deal, so thanked him for the road test of the 3 and left
