D3 Spring Conversation

I’m seriously considering changing my suspension to Sring Coil on my 06 D3, I don’t do big mileage but tow a caravan. Can anyone give me an idea of cost for the conversion or anyone that can supply the kit?

Why would you want to change it? Having the air suspension makes it such a more comfortable tow vehicle and helps to level out any changes in load. If you go to springs you're going to struggle.

Presume it would be looked upon as a modification for insurance purposes as well?

Would changing to springs make it worthless when selling on, I for one would not consider buying a 3 on springs when the ride is so smooth on air

I’m just fed up with suspension faults after installing a new compressor just over a year ago, our 35 mile journey without towing took 2 hours today after stopping about 10 times to reset suspension after bottoming out, finally after getting home I parked up looking like this.....

My last Disco 3 was on springs and its a spongy ride... corners and roundabouts are not the same as Air and esp at speed as I always had the ABS on at a large offset roundabout.

On a selling note : The guy who bought mine was delighted it was on springs as he had one previously which was riddled with suspension issues and said thats why he came to see mine first......Suppose its just your luck really..

This may help

If yours is a 7 seater you need to be careful, also if it has Xenons you may come unstuck as they are only allowed to be fitted with selfleveling suspension
Why do i say about 7 seats, the car is type approved for 7 seats with air, there is NO type approval for seven seats with coils and as such the vehicle would or could potentially be illegal on the road and may cause you a headache if involved in a serious accident
