D3 with 7 Up
Had a little outing tonight with 7 in the D3. I am mighty impressed with the performance fully loaded up with people. It was as if they weren't there! Poke was completely undiminished! 8)
This is completely different to my last 2 ton 2 litre petrol driven beastie which lumbered at the best of times but was really underpowered when full up with 7 people!

Thats good to hear.....I had wondered what the impact on performance would be with 7 on board. Looking forward to my trip away to Germany soon when it will get loaded up regularly.
Out of curiosity, what was the opinion of the 3rd row passengers?D3 05 SE (old one)

I'm also intersted to hear reports from the other passengers. I take a few in my TD5 who no matter how gently I drive get mildly travel sick and they blame body roll and the high seating position in the back for their sickness. I made sure my TD5 had ACE on it before I bought it because I felt it inproved the driving experience of the series II anyway.
So, for the D3, has this improved at all according to your passengers?2008.5 D3 HSE, Stornoway, Ebony

Not quite 7 up, but with 2 guitar heads , 1 base head, + guitars, 2 4x12 and 1 2X12 cabs, a base drum, mixing desk, cables, mikes, stands, the odd drum stick, oh, and 2 or 3 band members and me sat where they can find a space.
Use to have to make 2 or more trips in the old Omega .. not anymore ..
And the extra weight is only apparent when that lot above starts to move about in the back end if a corner is taken a bit shaprish ................Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

I use mine 7 up a fair bit, never had any complaints, adults have no problem in the back even for longer journeys.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Third row passengers were my 13 year old daughter (5ft tall) and 15 year old son (whose bigger than me - not hard):
My daughter reckons theres lots of legroom but the seats are quite hard but comfortable enough!Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I've sat in the backrow of ours and it is roomy but you do feel the bumps as you are directly above the rear axle.

Unless the road is really bumpy, the kids (8 & 10) love the back two seats and will always choose it, even when we are towing. Towing does make them bounce a little more. They both used to hate my XJ8 for making them sick and the D3 doesn't. Full Marks.Nov '54' TDV6 SE Manual 25,000 miles - Excellent !! Don't buy an Auto until you have driven a Manual !!!!

Mine are the same - they've always whinged about sitting in the 'very' back when we do decent cross country runs. It's easier to deny them now though since the rear seats are folded under the butyl, the roller blind is fitted, they get 'heated seats' in Row 2 and they can plug the iPod in to take over the stereo!!! 8)Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
