That sounds like the one they were offering me as well but wouldn’t fix the price, I’d to go back a month or so before it Mfc warranty runs out.

You are eligible for our LUXURY CARE level of cover, our highest level and I have attached our policy booklet so you can view exactly what we cover. In addition, Warranty Direct cover you for Wear and Tear claims on your vehicle meaning that if part has failed because it has “worn down” then we still cover the claim, this may sound straight forward but beware of some companies offering cover only against “Immediate sudden failure”. If wear and tear isn’t covered, almost any claim can be turned down as a result and wear and tear claims account for a large percentage of our work.
In addition, we cover problems found in your MOT or annual service which is a massive factor and we also cover consequential damage (damage caused by uninsured parts). If you don’t have these four areas covered on your policy then the warranty has a readymade get out clause.
Compare your Warranty
Do they have a wear and tear exclusion?
Do they have a consequential loss exclusion?
Do they cover failures found in an annual service or MOT?
Do they cover the cost of diagnostics?
Do they have an overheating exclusion?
Do they guarantee 100% of the hourly labour rate?
Warranty Direct guarantee all of the above.

I am no expert! That looked a good deal to me, year 1, 2, and 3 Assuming thats on top of the first 3 year LR warranty. Six years in total
That puts a little faith in the crankshaft scenario for me.
Might have to start looking for one myself now
What would that deal cost today?
I moved to Motor easy this year as WD wouldn't cover suspension at 112k miles and the age it was. With Motor Easy I'm paying £620 for the Plan B with betterment removed.Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! Betterment is where you gain from new parts in an old car. If, say, the gearbox went bang on a 100k Miles car, it can't be restored to that with a new box, it's a new box, hence you gain. With betterment clauses you pay a slice of that. With that removed you don't. Simples.
If you fail to have the betterment clause removed during negotiations, the company will most likely only pay a proportion of the cost for supply/fit of a failed part. Remove the clause and they'll pay in full.Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! To get back on topic .....
If you are looking at WD for a warranty, then I wouldn’t bother going near a LR dealer, go to other franchised/reputable (hmm does that sound right) dealers and maybe save a few quid. Approved used does not necessarily protect you agains5 crank failure.
You may even find you could get one with a few months original warranty if you were lucky, that would really set you up.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

You asked a question about mileage. Do bear in mind that, if you want to buy WD cover in future, the quality of cover that they offer degrades once the start mileage reads 60,000, then again at 62,000 and once more (with a significant degradation) at 85,000. You may want to think of buying a lower mileage example to begin with if this is important to you.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Is there a year to avoid in relation to crank failure or is it just pot luck.
Also is there anything else I should look out for that isn’t common to the D3.D4 MY15 SE TECH

I don't think there is a "safe" year to buy, even Wiggs had a failure on a MY15. I've had a 2012 and a 2016 (don't believe I'm going to say this, shhhhhhh) without any problems.
