I think the problem is, they only smashed the glass reached in popped the bonnet they never got in it its deadlocked.
After that its so fast to get the lights they don't care alarm is going off..
The had neatly left my black design grill against the fence, which was nice of them... Seems they only wanted the headlights.
Im thinking of disabling my bonnet catch and relocating it... Or fabricating some sort of deadlock
I can cope with a £100 of glass, but I don't want 2900 + glass and excess again!!
I can see your logic; if they are prepared to break a window to pop the bonnet then they are rather determined. In this case adding additional security to a flimsy bit of plastic grill is going to do nothing but leave you with an additional broken part to replace, so an additional method to secure the bonnet or the lights themselves does seem appropriate.
Removing the bonnet release is but one option and given how often I seem to be topping-off the screen wash at this time of the year it would be a pain. I am not sure I would like to loose the ability to rapidly access the bonnet either.
The latches for the headlight lights could be easily modified so that they required tools for removal. Whilst you would loose the 'tool free' ability to change a bulb this is a far from routine task and so less of a pain. If anyone in my area is concerned enough to want to do such a mod then I am willing to help.

Good point Robbie, topping up the screen wash is understandable but I doubt most people will try rushing to do that, and to use the handle for that it does not really need the screw in place. With regard to opening the bonnet quickly the most major thing I can think of is an engine fire, I suppose there are members that will want to put the fire out, but for me thats the last thing I would be wanting to do, cars insured but my kids lives are more important, hassle sorting out another car, yes but I would expect the insurance to deal with that. 2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)

Having taken a headlamp off for the first time yesterday (to have a look) I've come to the same conclusion.

Also drill the lift up part and cable tie that down as well?

I've been asked by a member to modify his so we will see how this goes.
Tie wraps and alike will provide little protection against a thief.

I've got some 'items' coming which should provide a more secure fix, if it works Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem

Don't forget there is a difference in the theft approach.
One is determind and smashing glass or screwing isn't going to cut it the other is a quick grab.
A determined thief will steal them, the more you try the more damage YOU will have.
I had a go, easy to remove them without opening the bonnetMike

Reading this thread is making me a bit paranoid. I live round the corner from Guy Salmon Thames Ditton , so potential security risk from their forecourt and the service centre carpark. There are also many disco 3s and 4s around - 5 just on my bit of road.
I kind of agree with MSE that putting on a secure fixing may just lead to increased damage. Though having a visible cable tie or something may be just be a little too much hassle for a thief, who may just move onto the next car along... as you can tell, in two minds over this! However, land rover could put out an official fix - unlikely however, as this just admits liability.
Putting the car into service on Tuesday to sort out heating problems, so may have casual chat with them to see if there any unofficial fixes deemed OK by their techies...

I dropped off the disco to sort out the passenger heating this morning, and spoke to the service advisor regarding this. He seemed to reiterate that there is a screw or bolt on the underside of the car and clips internally which can only be undone if the boot is open. Only way to open the boot is from within the passenger side, which would require the car door to be left unlocked, or breaking through the glass. I am now coming round to the thought that if a thief is going to want something that bad, there is possibly not much point in second guessing what they may take....

Having lost my rear light clusters while parked on my drive, I would like to keep my headlights, having read about thefts recently. Reviving this old thread to request a PM regarding the a security method from Mike (MSE).
If anyone wants to know how I secured my rear light clusters, please let me know and I will PM.
Thanks in advance.
CheersGary
