D4 2011
Is it correct that when the heater is on if I press the auto button both the auto and ac buttons light up?
Should they not work independently?
Can you not use the auto control without the air conditioning on?
When the heating is on at the moment, for example at 20, the side windows tend to mist up, the only way to keep the misting at bay is to have the auto/ac lights on.
With the auto/ac on, the temp. coming from the vents seems to be cooler than when the heating is on without auto/ac lights on.
I just seem to remember on the D3, I always had the heating on auto and that the ac function was seperate.

The auto function controls where the airflow is going and fan speed - 2 things. Auto will still operate these 2 parameters even with the AC off (your observations are correct it will also knock the auto light off - Auto will still operate). However it will work better with the AC on. For example if the external tempearture is 25 deg C and you do not have the aircon on the car will not be able to automatically control the temeprature down to 21 deg C without AC use, it will just blow the outside air in.
Hope that makes some/any sense!!!
