Agree but when its stolen for a secure car park at Heathrow airport its a bit galling,
How sure are they that it was there when they parked at Heathrow?

Uncle Ray is great to deal with and his protector is brilliant. Everyone with a full sized spare should fit protection. I think (not 100% sure) that I lost the spare off my D3 at a hotel in Bristol before I invested. It could have been outside my house but unlikely (although the protector would have course have worked in either situation). As soon as I got the D4 an Uncle Ray went on.

You need to bear in mind that although you might turn up at a "secure car park", your car will likely as not end up parked in a street somewhere until the day you are due to collect. Well known practice according to what outfit you use I'm afraid.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but I had the spare from my MY16 Landmark stolen whilst parked at Heathrow Business Parking over the last 3 weeks . The reason for my post is to ask if there are any other forum members who know of spare wheel thefts from Heathrow airport parking? These are the official onsite car parks I am referring to. I am just trying to ascertain if this is a common occurrence at these car parks which may point to something more than an opportunistic theft.

I work in and around the automotive industry and have a lot of business at Heathrow. I am sad to say that cars parked in the official car parks are easy prey. They are there for days on end and it takes a few minutes to book in for a day, drive around and select those that you know have easy pickings of spare wheels and the like. It is a problem that is there as it is to any car park where vehicles are parked for days on end. They do have CCTV but no one is interested in a 'wheel change' when you return to a car.
As they say..when you leave it, lock it and all of it...

Waiting on one of Uncle Rays, spare wheel protector, however until it arrives I have been putting the D4 into access mode along with putting the removable hitch in place. Won't stop the b d from cutting the wire but hopefully it would make it harder to remove the spare from under the vehicle.

That's precisely why I will only ever use airport carparks which don't involve handing my keys over to someone else.
