I have been talking to a few dealers about a D4 in last few days and I was led to believe the D4's would all be Auto's but I have been told by 2 dealers that there will also be a manual available using the current D3 engine and gearbox.

While I understand this will not be the new engine I would prefer a manual car, plus it is over £2000 cheaper than the auto version. Thumbs Up

The base model also seems to have a lot more toys than my current D3 GS model
I have something to say! It's better to burn out... than to fade away!

There are a few strange things in the online manuals

for rear camera it shows it in the 'spoiler' bit where the rear high level brake light is, but it is actually located next to the boot realease button above the number plate.

Also the entertainment/navigation section talks about the dual screen and viewing angles
But it's the same manual for the FFRR Big Cry Big Cry it's not that obvious and I got sooooo excited Censored
 Wot's that in Old Money

Start Button and SmartKey look a total and utter faff - sometimes you have to ask the question... Why?

There is also a safety angle.

Not having the ignition key gubbins and keys hanging down around the steering wheel can help avoid injury in an accident. Also in theory adds a little extra space around the steering wheel.

Have to agree why Question

Imagine this scenario. You turn up at the airport late and arrange your car to be parked. You jump out the car with the key thing in your pocket, run and catch your plane. The driver drives off in your car to park it up. He stops the car by the parking office and Doh....

'cos you can't not wait for the pre-heat cycle to complete anymore? Don't actually know if starting before the "glow plug" light goes out really matters, but in MrsR's 5 series on a cold morning, you press the start button and get a warning that pre heat is still happening, then it starts after a delay. From reading the ownerinfo on line, the D4 will be the same - up to 12 seconds wait, it says (dunno how cold it has to be for that to happen!!!)

verydisco - the word 'manual' used in this thread was refering to the user manuals NOT the D4 gearbox Wink
