I would double check the oil spec, it must be ACEA C1 (WSS-M2C 934-B) for engines with DPF.

I just purchased my oil from site sponsor OPIE, much cheaper than Halfrauds and next day delivery Thumbs Up

Oops beat me to it!

It does not seem to be the correct oil if you check against Eurocar part oil finder!

NJSS. The term dry fill is nothing to do with extraction versus sump plug. A dry fill is on engine rebuild whereby the oil galeries, pump, filter etc are all empty. The difference between extraction and sump plug varies between 0 and 300ml from all credible reports. My experience was 0 difference. Nothing came out the sump after extraction.

Anyhow, that’s a distraction from the OP’s issue.

Thanks again.

The oil I linked to was via the Halfords number plate search. A little worrying that it may not be the correct spec. Seem to have found some castrol edge stuff that meets the spec that I can collect tonight.

If I was any closer to the dealer and /or didn’t need to use the car then they’d be having it or collecting it. As it is it’s my only driver at present so I’ll attempt to top it up myself tonight and let my mechanic see if there is any more to it on Monday.

mine also showed "below minimum" when I got it - from a JLR dealer. I added about 2 litres in total BUT when Flack serviced it, he thought I'd over-filled it.

I have found that it's very particular about being "level" ... "almost level" just isn't good enough, readings varying wildly.

Yes, have to say that coming from a number of consecutive VAG cars the oil checking procedure does seem a bit of a farce.

Loving the car otherwise! Hope this is a simple fix.

Update!

It took almost two litres of oil to get the gauge to read 'ok'. The level indicator is sitting exactly in the middle of the gauge now - is it worth adding more to move towards the max, or do people maintain it in the middle?

Mine sits on the middle, and never moves. I did originally worry that the measurement process might be broken, but my indy proved it works by not filling it enough and taking a pic for me Smile
