I've got the surround cameras and I can see back half of the towball but no bumper.

As with all things LR they all seem slightly different!

Hi Wiggs

I have a 5 seat 2012 D4 with full colour screen but no sat nav or front sensors. Can you confirm availability and viability of replacing my rear door handle with a LR unit that has the reversing camera fitted. Are these units interchangeable and will the outside colour coded cover simply pop off? If available how hard is the installation of the wiring etc is it simply a plug in job?

I'm in Australia and have found the local LR dealers have no idea generally so am very interested in some informed info.

Cheers
Mike

You should have a little pop out plate on the rear tailgate handle that's ready for a camera .

If you havent for any reason then yes you can swap the whole tailgate handle ... And the outer painted part can be swapped .

The wires won't be there , so you'd have to run cables to the screen ... It would also need enabling

I have a D3 with a gvif 7.1version and can adjust the angle of the camera both vertically and horizontally, useful as the camera is offset.
I would sujest fitting a camera central inside the back window, I have experimented with mine and the view is far superior with no problems with the lens getting dirty, there are plenty of suitable and cheap CMOS cameras available.

Hi Wiggs,

Do the 2012 models have the same plug on the back of the screen/hdd unit as the 10/11 models? I'm thinking of upgrading at some stage but the faultmate incompatibility and the unknown of the new screen are a worry?

Cheers Ken
