D4 Specs

I am about to change from my dear old D3 in Belize green 170000 miles to a newer D4 , I am looking at a 11 plate and a 62 both with lowish mileage . The 62 has the rotary gear selection . Would anyone know how much difference there is between the two , and is it likely that cruise can be retrofitted ?
Many thanks

Someone else will come along with a more informed answer, but I think the rotary selection on the 62 plate means it has the 8 speed box not the earlier (6?) version.
Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

Yep, 8 speed box. Much smoother/acceleration, better fuel consumption Thumbs Up

I moved from a MY2011 D4 with a 6 speed box to a MY2012 with the 8 speed box (rotary selector) and the difference is noticeable. The 8 speed box is just so much smoother and it transforms what was a great car into a brilliant car. The 8 speed also has the addition of the flappy paddles behind the steering wheel, which at first I thought were a bit of a gimmick but are actually quite useful in everyday driving and much prefer them when driving off-road Thumbs Up

Forgot to add about the cruise control, yes it can be added but you will have to purchase the buttons from somebody like TLO and then get somebody with a Faultmate (eg Wiggs or Geoff.) to enable it for you Thumbs Up

I did same as Hairy Dan

I looked at a higher spec 6 speed but then tried the 8 speed. No contest, so smooth and better MPG

I gave up the electric seats for the XS but I am pleased I did

i've tried both and the 8-speed makes a noticeable difference and is a lot smoother. the power delivery is also much better

only downside i can think of is that i miss having an actual gear stick and sometimes need a second to remember to turn the dial
