D4 tdv6 excessive smoke on hard acceleration
Hey guys, our tdv6 seems to suffer from blue smoke on hard acceleration. Only once per journey. Any other time it's fine and no smoke. I have seen a technical bulletin relating to oil collecting in the 2nd turbo that burns off when hard accelerating. The symptoms of this exactly match what we have.
My question
Has anyone had experience of this and Got the offending pipe replaced/or even better got LR to cover the cost?
Ha

Details below with pics etc on the modification.
Parts about £75
Not many seem to have had it paid for by JLR unless still under warranty
Its on my list of jobs to do but not sure how detremental it is to the turbo if left indefinatly?

Omg, you are a legend. Our local dealer refused to contribute but it looks straight forward with that cracking write up.
Thanks 👍👍👍

Is there any other complications ito turbo life etc if the mod is not done?
I have the occasional puff of smoke when 2nd turbo kicks in, but not so much as to bother me.

My early D4 was the car that LR tested the parts on, however before they found the fix the car had a number of turbos replaced each one being modified, had injectors fitted and loads and loads of other work.
They finally did the MOD which seemed to cure the issue but I then rejected the car as the body had been off several times and other components had been replaced and messed with sevral times, the final thing being a new engine installed
Ended up with a nice new 8 speed instead of the original 6 speed. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Picked up my parts from LR today. £86 all in for the gasket, blank plate kit and return pipe. Will be tackling it over the weekend.

Would be good to get a little more info on removing the starter as there is not anything detailed on that part. I gather its considerably easier than it is on a D3

So I had all the best intentions to do the job but after taking off the under tray and seeing how tight it was to remove the starter motor I decided to get it booked into west mids 4x4😂😂
Will see how I get on now it's done.

Without tempting fate too early I don't seem to be getting an almighty plume of smoke anymore when the 2nd turbo kicks in 😎😎 happy days.
