D4 Timing Belts (again)
So on our previous TDV6 D3 had the timing belts done, cost a fortune, engine never ran as smooth with increased fuel consumption. will need it doing on the D4 SDV6 sooner or later, guess you can't get away with doing the front belt ? whats the probability of it snapping after say 130k miles if not changed pls ?

99% of people will say get it changed, as if your belt does go, then you’ve got a pretty worthless D4 sat about. An engine change is going to cost a massive amount more than belts.
No one can give you a time frame of risk - it might go straight away or you could go 2-3-4-5 years until it’s goes.
EDIT: I’d also say that I’d avoid using the same garage as it sounds like they didn’t set the timing right on your D3.Defender 110 2.4 TDCi Utility Station Wagon.

50 fifty I guess. Have not read about an Engine dying because of missed belt servicing. But you can read about snapped tensioners after belt change. In my eyes the belt can stay beyond the 7 years or 170.000 km I guess these are the Service schedules for the belts.
Check regularly the belt condition using an endoscope – otherwise you need to disassemble a bit more than a bitAchim

To OP, what are your feelings about changing brake hoses then? I mean the servicing interval is just a best guess

Mercedes W166 MY 2012 – no scheduled replacement of flexi brake hoses. BMW 525 MY 2009 – Same. I just know LR calling for a replacement.
In particular those prone to rust away after a couple of years from new.🤫Achim

Belts will eventually stretch.
The LR brake hoses are significantly longer.
And I guess air suspension gives them a work out
