My D4 is fitted with a 'factory' detachable tow bar system. However very occasionally I need to do some heavy towing (4 wheel trailer and 3+ tonnes). Reading between the lines it looks like JLR advise against use of the detachable bar for heavy towing, so I am happy to fit a fixed towbar for the occasional heavy towing job but rely on the detachable one for occasional and light towing. I prefer having no tow bar fitted for the day to day and off road use of the vehicle.
Can anyone advise whether I can leave the 'receiver' section of the detachable bar in place when I fit the fixed system (simple nut and bolt job since the electrics are already fitted)?
Regards
Nigel

Many thanks - so they are easily interchangeable give or take a few nuts and bolts?

As above the fixed goes into the same receiver then used 2 bolts through the chassis for the arms.
I was using an OEM fixed but have just changed to a Tow Trust removeable flange in order to get my ground clearance back.
Have a search for a thread - Towbar Options Paul.
