Exactly the same frustration I had upon reassembly.
It just seemed to slip on effortlessly in the end, but I'd been trying to help it along for 5 odd minutes!

NopeLRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

The moulded plugs on the end of the harness are different on the Disco 3 to those on the Disco 4

actually, its only the top half of the harness (the bit from inside the car to the plugs behind the light cluster) thats different between D3 & D4, the bottom half is exactly the same.

swaped twin 7 pin to single 13 pin on D4.
removed rear light, got long peice of alloy angle and popped clips down towards the bottom. Pulled cables up and unplugged loom. dropped spare wheel out the way, got underneath and pulled cables down, and fed across and removed through holes where the sockets fit. Did the reverse to fit 13pin.
You dont need to change the bit of the loom that goes into the car.

Looking at fitting the 13 pin tow electrics to MY12 (62) XS do I need VPLAT0012 or VPLAT0136. I need to be able to hook up to trailers that have led lights and reversing and fog lights. Also which hole does the 13 pin socket go in left or right. I thought it is the left side.Now with: Tow bar & storage, Xenon's, Remote Timed Climate, Mood Lighting, Cubby Fridge, DRL's & Mud Flaps
Accessories: Rubber Mats, Spare Wheel Cover, LR Tyre Pressure Gauge, Warning Triangle, LED's throughout & Leather Gear Selector Top

you need vplat 136, and in the latest kit it fits in the right hand hole.

in fact vplat 12 and 136 are the same wiring for the 13pin D4, its just a plastic bracket in the kit changed, so the part number changed.
and you dont need to take the bumper off to fit the electrics either

Is the plastic bracket that changed the one at the socket, and therefore why it changes sides in the housing?
That's good it's just left light cluster and drop the spare wheel out I understand.
