D4 XS - Aux Cabin Heater / Vent and Side Mirrors Query

OK, so just got the XS and been fiddling around with the new toy a bit. Couple of things I can't figure out and manual is vague on the subject...

1) The cabin heater is fitted under the bonnet (front right near the liquid filler caps etc). However, don't seem to be able to find anyway of switching it on from inside the cabin. I don't have the remote control option but sort of expected a switch or soft switch on the touch screen (No 'Timed Climate Control' appears on menu).

2) Side (Powerfold) Mirrors. Manual says these can be set to dip when reversing using Vehicle Set-Up menu (central driver information module). Dammed if I can find any such option on this or the vehicle set up on the touch screen.

Any clues, hints on the above gratefully received.

(BTW - found the 4x4 screen following hints found here so that's been useful.)

Unfortunately you don't get the timed heater option, or the auto-dip mirrors on the XS (apparently you only get that with the electric seats). The manual can be misleading, as it includes all options.

Sorry!

I did wonder as much but on 1) why then bother fitting the aux heater in the car at all if it can't be switched on; and for 2) You would have thought that with electric and powerfold mirrors that reversing tilt would be a no-brainer really.

Apparently the mirrors aren't the same - different motors or something like that.

I didn't even realise the heater was fitted until someone pointed it out to me (I thought that's what you payed all the money for with the remote option). I think it provides instant heat for the cabin once the engine is running on cold days (as the engine takes a while to heat up), and it's just LR's way to getting more money by charging to activate it!

And yes, you should speak to Pete at BAS - it's amazing how much stuff can be activated on the XS! Thumbs Up

The FBH will operate entirely automatically, fulfilling its main purpose, once the ambient temp drops below 5-6 degrees. It provides rapid heating of the engine and the cabin in colder weather. If you have the timed or remote control, it does the latter prior to the engine being switched on. All diesel D4s (and 3s) are fitted with them.

The dipping mirrors require the memory seat module, that only comes with the electric seats. That's the reason you don't have them.

Thanks, on both counts, that makes a lot more sense. I hadn't appreciated that the heater was primarily automatic anyway for use once the engine is on. Shame about the memory seat module though.

Looks like I'll be dropping a note to Pete at BAS though.
