D4 XS halogen lights any good

My dads looking at a D4 XS, just found out it has projector halogens

I've seen people post on here to say they are crap, and a bulb upgrade sort of improves it

Could he, if he bought some OEM xenons fit these instead, or will it need further things adding to make it legal, I assume these could be enabled if he gets te other faultmate type stuff added

Coming from a Lexus RX450h with xenons I think it could come as a shock how bad halogens are, after been a Lexus owner or the last 5 cars

I went down the bulb route, £20 from amazon against about a grand. They aren't as good but are acceptable.

I've suggested he gets a lamer with halogens in and has a drive when it's dark

If he did blow a grand on xenons, woud there be warranty issues, ?

Are they legal? Thought they were a mot failure nowadays

To be honest he might find halogens great, but I know I wouldn't like them

Only illegal if not used with self levelling and washers, but on the D4 I guess you have those two points covered.

I have a D4 XS and think the light off the standard lights is really good, I live on a country road and the disco lights it up well. All I have to compare it with are a 320d and a Caddy, both with non projector halogens and they are a mile better!

In saying that in changing to xenons as I like the look and want the signature lights!
