From looking a thing that it could easily be the relay. Without pulling the bonnet lining down and getting a voltmeter on the connector it would be impossible to tell what was having an effect. It's all starting to look like a fair bit of hassle.
For the man who stripped a D3 at the side of the road 1000+ miles from home to say it's too much hassle, that under bonnet insulation must be the best fixed part on any vehicle on the planet .

Just another Discovery function that doesn't work properly. Those on my MY16 did nothing.
