Do D4s have heated washers?

Cleared the snow off the bonnet, leaving a bit of a crust of ice, then off for a 30 minute drive in -2c. I'd have expected a ring to form around the washer jet from the heater, as used to happen on my D3. Are they heated? I saw no change, not a dicky bird or melting. MY11 HSE if that makes any difference.

Thoughts of wise ones?

First noticed nothing on the heated nozzle front before Chrimbo, they had a mini iceberg around them and that didn't melt at all in a reasonable length drive. On the "to do" list before Ice Fest. Thumbs Up

Drop the bonnet sound proofing down and check for mouse damage, they love to hibernate in there Shocked

In my experience they are pretty useless anyway, especially on earlier yr models, wouldn't waste time money on a fix. Thumbs Up Found the only way to keep them clear in colder times is a -20 or -30 washer mix.

Problem I had was the nozzle block was encased in ice from melted then hard refrozen snow, it had been -9.5c that night after getting just above freezing through the day. I would have had to chip off the ice but if the ice has sealed off the nozzle it wouldn't make any difference what strength the fluid was. Unfortunately the engine heat didn't permeate through to melt it as it was only a 20 minute drive and still several degrees below freezing.

Agreed, not worth the cost of someone else investigating it but if a simple fuse check or connectors on the inside of the bonnet. Will summon my techie super powers to investigate. Thumbs Up

Wifes Suzuki Swift no heated jets and a summer mix all yr round has never had a problem with freezing or blockages in same temps that have seen the D4 with blocked frozen jets and a stronger mix.

Might have just been a mix or circumstances, like parked in the sun, but the best way to describe the nozzles was as if they were in the middle of an ice cube. The mix was pretty rich, though may not have been totally flushed through, rocky mistake. Embarassed

I replaced my D3 heated jets with some D4 ones a couple of years ago because they never worked.

...still don’t work. Fuses fine.

If you find the answer Del, I’d be interested to hear Thumbs Up

Same problem on our MY15 D4 - no ring of thaw at all recently despite a frosted bonnet and frozen nozzles. Shortly after we acquired our D3 in 2009 I replaced those nozzles with D4 ones but they only seemed to work for one season then nothing...

They are supposed to come on when you select front heated screen to on along with the door mirrors, thats how mine work. But it depends on battery load and outside temp. And how good your alternator is when fully loaded.

Flack Thumbs Up

Daft question to prevent me having to go out in the cold and dig out the manual, isn't the mirror heating switched on with the rear window heating?
