I locked the D5 forum here as I have been away over the weekend and could not get on the forum to deal with all the bickering.
This is a D3/4 forum where most of the recent moderator activity has been on D5 threads. That's not been acceptable.
I have twice asked for calm, and been ignored by a small number who seem determined to stir things up. That's not been acceptable.
I will be leaving the D5 section locked at the moment. I would however love to unlock it - all regular posters and readers know I don't make a habit of doing this - but I not going to accept being ignored and the forum abused in this way.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

But it is about the " New Discovery " and some of us have got the new one so i thought it would be logical for comments & pictures to be shared to how they feel the new car is feeling? .As it's just released it's bound to have more interest including me as I've yet to see one on the road yet and it's all about choices and easier to view here than hot footing over the other forum as it's only the originals on here that upgraded .

Martin if it is an issue with a few specific people then perhaps those should be targeted specifically and not everyone because from what I have seen there are a lot who may not want a D5 but are still happy to talk about th and critique in a considerate wayMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Perhaps, and this is just a suggestion, it is time to have a serious attempt at a "homepage" that links all the various forums together?

Yes it’s a D3/4 forum, but a lot of members here were understandably looking forward to choosing and purchasing the next new model. If the D5 turns out to be not suitable or even contain design flaws, then obviously many people are going to want to express their disappointment or even anger.

It's not the criticism of the D5 that offends, as I've said in the past I don't care who does or doesn't like it, and don't care what someone thinks of me for buying one, it suits my needs hence that's the reason I bought one. Off late though it's been descending into childish bickering and useful information has been getting lost amongst it.

Like I said, I don't want to keep the area locked, but I won't put up with the borderline trolling.
This is a D3/4 site (the clue is in the names), so D5 is "off topic" and is treated as such. There is a dedicated site for D5 now, which was pointless me setting up if the pressure is to keep the D5 section here as the "main" discussion forum
I also stress that problems with the comments of others should be reported and not be taken into your own hands (this is in the site's terms of use).
It'd be genuinely brilliant to have all the sites more closely linked and particularly with a cross-site login. If only I could wind the clock back 11 years and take that path

My pennies worth.
I personally would like to see One forum for both the L319 & L462. There is so much to share between the two and i'm sure 99.9% of the members would get along absolutely fine with it.
I'm a member of the FullFat forum which caters for the L322 & L405 and works brilliantly and i would say having one forum would do well to mitigate any "us" and "them" culture.
If members are intent on constantly stirring things up they should be dealt with individually by the moderators.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten
