Dealer got back to me finally. Now all booked in for next Friday (6th Oct)

It’s in for 2 hours, for what ever it’s to have done.

D5 was in this morning for the service light, was supposed to be in for 2 hours, but oil service mileage has increased from 1700 to 4000 since booking. So they checked the oil, less than 5% degradation, no cause for concern, no oil change, just keep an eye on it and if it changes drastically bring it back in if not they’ll see me in March for it’s 1st service.

New sticker fitted, took advantage of the lack of a badge on SE models.

Thinking about side steps and need to get mud flaps on.

Only 5%? Laughing

Close enough for government work. Wink

The service interval will no doubt jump up and down, depending on the types of journeys you make over the next few months. That's how woefully inaccurate the oil dilution algorithm is.

It's been known to under and over guesstimate. The only way you can know for sure is to have a sample of your oil analysed; As much as 2% is generally enough to throw it out of spec.

Just a little update

Well after yet another niggle creeping in, in the form of a rattle in the B-pillar that’s driving me crazy, I think it’s actually the interior trim around the rear window as it seems a bit better since I stuck a loan car insurance document in it Rolling Eyes, I’m thinking of selling, very disappointed in the car of late, everything started out great but just lately it’s been back to the dealers a few times for stupid things that shouldn’t be present in a car in this price range.

It’s the first time I’ve had a car in this price range, perhaps I’m expecting too much for it just to be put together properly. I put my faith in LR and the product despite my initial doubts but I stood by the brand.

So it’s another trip back to the dealers when I can be bothered to get this looked at.

Currently looking at Audi A4 Allroad Sport 3.0 TDI 272 and for a fraction of the cost a Skoda Octavia Scout 2.0 TDI DSG, two cars I never thought I would look at. But all depends on what the costs are, so may be next year before I make the move.

Shame really as the D5 is a really nice place to be but it’s let down by LRs poor workmanship.

I know how disappointed you must be having followed your experiences from buying the D5 till now. I read Honest John in the DT and it might be worth you searching his on line site for information on the VAG DSG problems people have encountered. I seem to remember some versions had problems.

That’s a real pity, the D4 is such a good motor, what do LR customers relations have to say, these anoying niggles are not what you would expect to get on a car of this pedigree, I can understand how pi55ed off you must be.

I know Audi’s have a good reputation my lads on his 3rd Quattro, all have had in excess of 80k miles when they were changed without any problems.

It will probably be next year (March) before I make the jump unless I get a good offer, so plenty of time to look at other options.

This is my 9th LR and I’ve built up a good relationship with my salesman/dealer and to be fair they’ve been pretty good. It’s tough as I have a deep love for the brand and the D5 is a really nice car just let down by LRs that’ll do mentality.

Perhaps a bit drastic to think about selling so soon as the cost to change may be more painful than trips to the dealers. So I’ll continue to document life with the D5 and keep you all updated on what I decide to do and I will be sending an email to LR customer services to vent my frustration.

I should add my issues are trivial compared to some owners.

You not happy with more than one then Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Sorry I must disagree, I have had a new D4 when they first came out and had much more issues with that than I have had with the D5, yes I have had a few teething problems but thankfully the dealer has sorted them our and LR have looked after me so I cannot complain so far, but if they continue to have issues with the diesel dilution and do not resolve it then they may make a diffrence
