Guys, I hate to go back to this, but I have contacted a few aftermarket wheel and tyre suppliers and have just received the first reply by e-mail.
I asked this question in all cases:
Dear Sirs,
I am trying to locate a set of 22†wheels and tyres for a 2005 Land Rover Discovery 3 are you able to help. If so can you please tell me the size and load rating on the tyres and wheels you may have, The reply I received was:

We have two styles of wheel we can do for the Land Rover Discovery 3
Either
BK Racing BK259 22†£1925
Or
Antera 345 22†£2495 (in stock)
Both wheels either with 285/35/22 or 295/30/22 Tyres

The speed rating on the Tyres is Y and the max load is 875KG
Also the wheels are the best ratings you can get around

I am obviously not going to name the company or their location, but they clearly do not know the weight of a D3 and have not researched it, also they say the wheel is the best rated around, but why no rating supplied when I asked.
This is the calculation:
Discovery 3 Rear Axle, manufacturers plate in front panel above radiator, the one the police and VOSA would refer to. It is similar to the Plating Certificate in a goods vehicle.
Rear Axle, written on the plate as - 1875kg
The tyres I was offered were load rated at 875kg. Multiply this by 2
875x2 = 1750kg.
Now take:
1875
1750
-125
Now that IS worrying as they are 125kg UNDER the manufacturers weight limit. Also note that there were no load ratings for the wheels, that is because I strongly suspect from my research that there are NO 22†wheels weight rated to the Discovery 3.
Please please check guys before you put these tyres and wheels on your cars. Get the EU approval certificate before you go ahead, just look at the price of them and it may be lost if stopped by the police, after a crash or an insurance claim.
Approved wheels will have the weight rating stamped inside the wheel or on the outter rim, if not DO NOT TOUCH THEM, unless you receive a EU certificate with them and inform LR and your insurance company.
Finally, I have posted a note in another section about LR refusing to repair suspension damage because 22†rims and tyres were fitted to a new Range Rover. As Winger and Lawman pointed out, LR has it in their legal bits to wriggle.

Ducati, believe it or not quite a few people. They do it to personalise the car and probably never take it off road. However, I have yet to find a wheel and tyre that are approved.
I did the research because it is dangerous and our site members should be fully aware. Sellers really, as my e mail above show, don't know or don't care, either way it is irresponsible to sell without full research, because people will buy if they like a product of course.
Not only that the solid effect of the tyre could damage steering and have other effects over a long time. It must effect road handling with severe bounce and distort ABS.
Off road, well no chance

I was joking, it happens all the time here, too (basketballers and rappers are a notorious consumer of "double dubs").
If I wanted a sports car, well, I wouldn't be driving a Land Rover.
More small rims for me, though, I can't complain! I already ruined mine on the rocks... '05 LR3 HSE

i dont do football but do have 22" wheels!
BN - i thought you said my tyres were all ok?
I know i still need to get you the wheel info which i will sort tomorrow D3 JB/B V6 HSE + DVD and NAVtv addon, Steps, Tints, PTI

From the weight data of your tyres you sent, it appears your tyres are JUST in. The wheels we need data on. They should have them marked on each wheel on the inside of the wheel or on the edges. I think the inside is the most likely.

Out of interest, did you get back to the company to point out the error of their ways? It would be interesting to know how they responded, and maybe it might prevent them mis-selling a wheel to another D3 owner in the future

There is nothing to stop them selling the wheels as far as I know, it is just illegal and dangerous to use them. The basis of law here is buyer beware again.
I demonstrated to some of the guys yesterday where to find the details on the wheel using MrsBNs GV. Her car has rear axle rated to 975kg, but each wheel is rated to 950kg, better safe than sorry. She is nearly 1 tonne over the safety zone, not under it.

Sorry for the delay but i now have the wheel info
There are a number of stamps on the inner of the wheel and inner edge, the various markings read:
9Jx22 H2 ET35
RC2 902 002
RC TB V7
04 05 (I presume this to be the manufacture date)

Also, my tyres are being changed tomorrow as i have a fault with one of them and they cannot get stock so i am getting a new set. This will be Hancooks instead of my current Toyos - so i am going to check the weight info to make sure they are the same (or better) too.
