After reading this post and some YouTube footage, I think I’m going to try a nextbase 512

If you're not in a hurry, keep checking back on Halfords website. They run decent offers on Nextbase cams from time to time - either a substantial reduction in price, or a good deal on a hard-wire kit and fitting. Hang on for a while and you may well get a better price.

Hang on and you may wish you hadn’t. Sooner you get it the sooner you have protection. 2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.

I got sent the 1080p version of the Yi dashcam to try a few weeks ago but forgot all about it until today It's normally available on Amazon for about £30
Here's a quick test of it, the quality does seem to have suffered a bit after uploading it to Youtube
There's no sound on it as I had my music playing.Cheers Ian

Spent the day at the Commercial Vehicle Show with a client and, while wandering the show, came across the Thinkware stand. They've just launched the F800, a new 1CH or 2CH dash cam, which looks pretty smart.
The 1CH retails at £269 and the 2CH at £349 but I got hold of a discount code (2018THINK), which I thought may be of interest to some on here. Gives the user a 12% discount when buying from thinkwaredashcame.uk. I think it can be used for all models in the range.
For an extra £100 for the 2CH (I think he said!!!) they will come to you to install too.
I have no links with this company. Just saw the product, liked it and then heard about the bonus discount code.

They should be, the power lead is very long so it would be easy to run it up from the back of the glove box and across the head lining. I've only got it fitted temporary at the moment but if I decide to keep it in there I will be hard wiring it.Cheers Ian

Make sure any camera you buy will record true HiDef at 60fps as it makes a huge difference to the image quality when reviewing single frames, when trying to read a plate for example especially if recorded at speed.
