DASH CAM RECOMENDATIONS
Hi All,
This morning my two daughters and I nearly got wiped out by an idiot on a country road, I pressed the capture button but for some reason it didn't keep the footage. I've got an assortment of cheap dash cams and they all are either clumsy to use, unreliable or have poor quality video despite all being classed as high definition easy to use etc.
I am now looking to spend a bit of money and get something that will do the following;
1) Have very good HD at least good enough to be able to read an overtaking or approaching cars number plate.
2) Record a long loop say 1 hour minimum ( so prob need to be compatible with larger than 32GB cards)
3) Be completely automatic regarding turning on and off.
4) Perhaps able to record two cameras, for a rear facing one.
Can anyone recommend a product that has some or all of these features?

Blackview and Thinkware both do dashcams that do all that and more. I have a thinkware F770 which I let work away in the background and is hidden behind the front mirror.
Also look into DDPI they are cheaper but everyone is impressed with the picture quality.
Loads of info on here just search

Can recommend 100 per cent, NextBase. Use 512G in the Disco and older 402G in SWMBO’s Jazz. Great video and 4 hour loops.2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.
recently got a Nextbase 312gw and it's quite happily using a 64Gbyte card. several hours of driving over last 3 days are all on it.

Just fitted Nextbase 512GW. 20 mins to hard wire and fits neatly in front of the rear view mirror on the passenger side. Video quality is excellent and you can set it to record 3 or 5 min clips on continuous looping and will record approx. 2hours on a 32GB card. G Sensor will automatically lock any video segments in event of anything nasty happening. You can check the operating manual online via Nextbase site
Also records lat/long and speed via GPSClub RLD spare wheel protection
Club RLD skid plate
Club its all black
Club D3 - it's gone
Club D4 - just arrived and still all black

Just installed a Garmin 55 and quite impressed with it, really small and unobtrusive. Lifetime speed camera database plus a lot of other tricks.

Just a snide comment on garmin - your definition of lifetime might not be their definition of lifetime. Tomtom recently off a lot of their users with the same.

Ive just bought 2 of these and they are brilliant, easy to use App to download footage. Not the most expensive but I’ve had a Blackvue and this is just as good if not better. The Blackvue I had didn’t have WiFi which just made it awkward to use.
You won’t regret this at the price. It was also delivered within the week.
