Dash warning lights on start up |
|
Hi All
I've noticed recently that when I start the D3 as I crank the starter I get amber warning lights and a message on the screen saying 'Special programmes unavailable'. These go as soon as the engine has started and everything seems to be working fine otherwise. Seems to happen if the car has been standing a couple of days - not so frequently if the car has been driven a bit more and only when starting from cold.
I'm wondering if it is an indication of the battery being on its way out as it seems to be occurring when the battery would be under load. Or is it some other electrical gremlin that I should start saving my pennies to resolve!?
Any ideas? MY11 Disco 4 SDV6 HSE

+1 on the battery not being fully charged, cranking engine and firing up all the ecus will pull down voltage leading to warnings that disappear once running as the battery voltage comes back up. Try charging the battery if you arent doing long runs, as it may not be getting a full charge, especially if its been allowed to flatten over time. Other stuff may be pulling current when the car is "off" which is what my old RRS had problems with. PS lead acid batteries do die eventually and if yours is an old one it may just be time for a replacement .

99% battery 1% something else, it's a Land rover it can always be something else.
I had the same and a new battery solved it. Roel
