Dashboard panel / help please

Well I’ve started sorting out the wiring to go into my upper glove box

just put the gauges in lower panel that will replace the cig lighter panel , just got to wire it all up

Fuse box inside the upper glove box is running off my aux battery to run ancillaries , ie dashcam, aux volt meter etc , running through the relay so when the ign source is removed with kill power to the fuse box

A big thks to Prof G for spending so much time helping me Bow down

Also done in a way the glove box can still come out but just undoing 3 x wires

Example of panel installed

May I have some help please , as I Think I’ve just dropped a clanger Whistle

Wired the panel up but then thought , ref how much room I’ve got behind the panel

Has anyone got any pics or knows how much room is there please

As there’s 2 x cig lighter connections I’ve split the wiring into 2 x sections, so each can be connected into 2 x parts

Thks so much Thumbs Up

Maybe I should have used these to cut the room down behind the panel

Hi

Why didn’t I think of that , Doh , what a brilliant idea Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

thanks so much as I should then be able to go straight across the terminals

Really don’t like this modern solder , always found the older leaded solder ran so much better

Very grateful

So today managed to put the gauge panel in

Ran the aux wire ready to the glove box for when I install the aux fuse box etc

Plugged my iPad in to test the amperage USB port , says it automatically adjusts the amps to whatever is plugged in

Wondering what ur thoughts were plse,

Panel fitted , aux battery wire yet to be connected

Plugged in the cheap volt meter out of curiosity and was quite surprised

Tried my iPad as a test for the USB port

Many thks , took me long enough , Thumbs Up

U mean they move as well Whistle Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

glove box aux fuse box next , got to find a suitable switched live on the cabins fuse box, will just use a piggy back fuse for that

I’ve Got the relay wired in , think a 20 x amp fuse for the relay will be plenty and drop the fuse amps on the individual circuits on the aux fuse box as req for each item, ie dashcam etc

Cable is rated at 32 amps

Will have to pull the radio out so I can wire in the aux wire

You are unlikely to ever draw 20 amps unless something with bigger current demand is plugged into one of the sockets. So a relay for such small consumers is overkill, if you go that route drop the fuse down to 10 amp max, with lower for individual circuits.

If you leave out the relay, and whilst I do not know the exact individual or combined load, you could try a 5 amp (maybe less) on the main + feed and step it down for each item (1 amp for meters and 3 amp USB) if you want extra protection. The meters and USB will draw very low current, its the other two sockets where items of varying consumption might be inadvertently plugged in, so low a amp fuse is your friend!

Bless u and thks as always for the sound advice Bow down

Perfect , will do that and fit a 10 x amp fuse, relay is there so after I remove the ign key , there will be no power to the aux upper glove boxes fuses

massive appreciation of the kind help you’ve given me over the months

Thank u kind sir Bow down Thumbs Up

Ps, reminds me, I’ve got to put a fuse at the aux battery terminal for when I connect the pos wire
