just got a 2006 disco from my father, love it but it had std 17inch wheel... just looked to small!? picked up some OEM 20"inch RR Stormers with new tyres..... Maybe a silly Q, but I'll ask anyway... Do I need new wheel bolts or am I ok to use existing??
cheers

Your D3 wheels nuts will be fine if the wheels are OEM. What size and spec of tyres as the Stormers were standard on RRS, and not on the D3, and the RRS tyre spec 1) isnt weight rated high enough for the D3 and 2) is too low a profile.

I'm not towing or off road much....would they be safe to use in these circumstances? Was look at some cooper LTZ but not straight away though....

OK, so short answer is no - those tyres are way too low in terms of wieght rating - need to be 111.
OK, you could get away with 275/40x20's but really need to be a bit bigger at 275/45x20. Its the weight rating I'd be more concerned about and this is nothing to do with towing or off road work.
Also - you need to tell your insurers as the D3 was never fitted with 20" alloys, not even as an option. These only came into use of the D4.

thanks for your advice, much appreciated!! New tyres then.... I see you had 20" stormers previously on a D3, what tyre did you use or would recommend?
cheers

That is right - I ran with Yokohama 265/50x20 111W. I though these were a good compromise between looking decent, good grip and wear rate, and decent enough sidewall size to retain some comfort.
Some folks have run 285/50x20 Grabbers - really chunky and can rub on post 07 models.
One or 2 run 275/45x20's, but these only seem to come in at 110 wight rating, which I would run with even though still not "technically" right (but much closer/safer)

Hi
Found some 285/50R20 Cooper Zeon Ltz Xl 116 for my stormers, seem good value and I do less than 3k miles per year..... I have a 2006 D3 so rubbing shouldn't be an issue, although I have had read lots of conflicting info, saying that I'll need spacers etc. appreciate it will be a tight fit but thought I wouldn't need any mods and additional kit
cheers
