I've just received a very depressing email from my dealer, saying that delivery of my new Disco has been delayed until end of next week due to a 'restriction on all Discos'...anyone any idea what this means?
The car apparently fell off the production line on 1st December; anyone know what an average delay is from completing production to delivery completed?
I had assumed (silly me ) that I might get to see it this week Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?

Hmmmm, I think it's time to call the dealers again!
I hope mine didn't go to you LLR!
Thanks guys, off to do some dialling... Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Roughly translated it means that your car has failed quality control and is going back for re-work. Call Land Rover customer relations if you have the chassis number and ask them to speak with order control and find out exactly what the rework is. I did this on my old car and found out that it had a load of stuff done including paint. Sorry to depress you further but don't take any you know what from your dealer.

Oliver77, Not what I wanted to hear as you suggest, but good to know too. I guess it was a POETS car after all.
My sales guy is out at the moment, and I'm waiting for a call back so if it's interesting I'll let you know what story he serves up.
I'll get the chassis number off him and call the number; thanks for the advice. Dr. Ian Malcolm:

I have just had the same news from my dealer regarding delivery. He says that all the TDV6 D3 and RRS models are affected. Exactly why he didn't say. However it does raise the possibility that rather than you car having fallen off the production line (literally!) and needing fixed, there may be a TD specific problem. Maybe they have not ordered enough engines!! I think we should be told........

Sorry to hear you're in the same boat Alex08. I spoke to my dealer, he's not sure what the issue is but did say that he'd normally hear what the reason was if it was a large scale problem. He assumed some kind of re-work was underway.
He did tell me that he had 6 cars on order, three customer order and three for stock - and the three customer cars failed to turn up, only the stock ones arrived.
I now have my chassis number though and will follow up as per Oliver77's excellent suggestion with customer relations and find out what the deal is.
Just as a matter of interest, did you order privacy glass? This was my only factory fit extra and I know my dealer only orders plain glass for stock...
[edit] I should also say that in fairness I was originlly quoted 17 December as the delivery date, and only got my hopes up because LR seemed to be building the cars faster than usual. Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."

I wasn't quoted a date except early December - ordered mid October. The only extras are the TV & TPMS - so no common featrues there. My man said it was the TDV6's that were affected so pterols should be OK. I'm now looking at January I think. Oh well - just in time for the snow!

Looks like something strange going on - I wonder if it's related to a single batch of engines, hence some of the TDV6's are being delivered as normal.
I have made my call to LandRover Customer Relationship, I'll post details as and when I receive them. Dr. Ian Malcolm:

OK, nows the time to place bets on this :-
1) Freelander roll out (this w/e)
2) Strike
3) Delivery crew won the pools / lotto / Euro lotto & gone AWOL
4) Computer that prints out delivery roster broke
Won't be the cars themselves, they've been long built & QA'd for delivery now. - but thats option 5.
6) Oh yes, war on terror - Giant space goat attack. No sorry, wrong forum, thats about Trident.
My monies on 4 btw.

Very happy for you DD!!! Excellent news! Yours has been a soap-style saga from the minute you joined and I've enjoyed every part of it - don't ruin the end by going all quiet!
Go on, shout it out and enjoy your permagrin! Dr. Ian Malcolm:
