Demo HSE Luxury vs New HSE |
|
Would appreciate any thoughts you have on my dilema.
I am about to part, yet again, with a serious amount of money and give it to Land Rover. I am trying to decide between a new HSE or a 2013 demo HSE Luxury(which de-fleets in March).
Demo HSE Luxury
The dealer took delivery of the HSE Luxury in January and will drive it for 2-3 months putting max 3-4k miles on her. It is a Santorini Black with20 inch gloss black allow wheels. Options include: Privacy glass, Plug in tow bar and full size spare. Everything else is standard HSE Lux specs.
List Price = £58,850 and dealer will let is go for £52,000 when de-fleeted.
New HSE
Buying a new HSE with the spec I like would come to £54,680 and assuming I can get between 5-8% off the list price, I'm looking at around £51k.
Conclusion- In essence I get all the features of the HSE Luxury for the price of a HSE, although with 3000miles on the clock.
For those in the know, do you think £52k for a Demo HSE Luxury is the correct de-fleet price?
What would you do HSE Lux or New HSE?
I really appreciate your thoughts! 2017 Disco5 First Edition(On Order)

I would order a new HSE Luxury £58,850 - 8% and you will get a brand new car for about £54,000.
Most dealers are giving 8% discount on Discovery 4.

What colour and spec would you have in the HSE? If your perfect car is different colour and interior than the HSE Lux then I'd say get what YOU want.
Think I'd push for another grand off the HSE Lux and put my money on the table as I do so to get it for £51k. Be interesting to see what dealer trade in is for a 6 month HSE Lux with a few k on the clock.... £47-48k?

Good advice dubs. Was thinking around the 51k mark too! I like the colour spec of the demo and would probably go for the same new. 2017 Disco5 First Edition(On Order)

I would go with the Lux, fully loaded and with only 3-4k miles dose it make that much difference presume its the sales managers car if so have a word with him first and tell him not to drive it (in a nice way)
Its just that i'm doing the same at the end of March going from a HSE 12 to a Lux 13

Just keep pushing for a better price, the dealer gets a good discount on its demo's and they like to get of them.

I have been looking at the same deals, however living in Wiltshire I have the 2 most expensive dealers anywhere in the uk
And a mention of the word discount gets you short thrift and possible expulsion from the showroom
Discounts offered none.
One dealer has she lux in showroom with 20 inch wheels Baltic blue almond interior, no privacy glass fitted just a standard hse lux no extras 61,157 on road
On buy a car website can get Hse lux with every option except rear locking diff and homelink in frenzy red almond interior tow pack high bean assist smokers pack, privacy glass, full size alloy, vision assist park heating with remote for 57,750
Any extras over the base spec in whatever variant are never reflected in secondhand values so hse lux with all the extras same value secondhand as one with no extra spec
Buy a car quote 52,450 for same spec as above but in the hse variant
I would always buy highest spec as believe with Landrover they always hold secondhand values better.
52000 does seem a little too much for ex demo lux but as said before that would be a bargain in Wiltshire D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Thanks Lespes and helpful remarks. Sorry to learn that you LR dealer is so inflexible. Presumably you could buy the car elsewhere! There is certainly a lot of choice out there! 2017 Disco5 First Edition(On Order)

Just got off the phone with NFU mutual who confirm 5% off new D4s in addition to what you have negotiated with the dealer. LR HQ covers the cost of this not the individual dealer. I wonder if this applies to my Demo that is yet to be received. What with most dealers giving 8% off the retail price that is a whopping 13% total off new D4s, which might sway me away from the Demo if it doesn't apply! 2017 Disco5 First Edition(On Order)

I got an additional 4% off my MY12 XS and 5% off the MY10 HSE.
also had a look at a HSE Luxury yesterday , but could tell any difference between that and the normal HSE
however, the new FFRR Autobiography was nice at £100k Duncan

Was that the creamy silver coloured FFRR in GS, Duncan?
I had a sit in it the other day and although a fabulous car would not handle my wet black lab, 4 muddy booted shooting men and their kit very well. Much rather have the Disco!
Agree with you on the Lux as well. Couldn't see any difference except wheels which I don't like as much as the HSE anyway

Quote:also had a look at a HSE Luxury yesterday , but could tell any difference between that and the normal HSE Confused
Main difference rear entertainment system hybrid tv 825 watt stereo, as metioned choice of a crappy wheels, extended roof rails as standard and a finally a set of premium carpets
Spec this on a HSe you will loose out on secondhand values, with Lux it is factored into main retail price so will hold a higher residual in future.
Would think to most the extras not worth the inflated Landrover pricing but if desired gives you an option to keep a little more of the intial outlay in the future.
Have seen several New range rovers in the showroom, (Autobiography looked smart at 99,950 it should) but today was first time have seen one on the road without camoflauge. Was surprised at how distinctive, and stand out it was in the crowded High Street, almost regal. Always best to see it in real life situation before getting a feel for it, shame they got it wrong on the Ewok D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

no, i was in MJFews.
spoke to them about the dealership, had a good chat with service and sales- they are still negotiating the Sales Franchise, but the Service etc is still good for 3 years. They can still sell new LR products , but will purchase via other dealers and will sell Izuzu as well as LRs. seems LR arent keen on their location (ie not in the centre of town with a large populus catchment area etc) and want them to spend £100k's on the showroom to fit in with the Victoria Beckham image Duncan
