Detachable tow bar question

An old friend and neighbour of mine has recently lost his driving licience due to his deteriorating eyesight Big Cry He has been a keen tin tenter all his life and now is facing the prospect of having to leave his caravan in one place for the season. My question is, I have a detachable tow bar for my D3 would it be sufficient to tow a twin axel 1600 Kg caravan about 25 miles or so from one site to another or for something this heavy should it really be a fixed one ? Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

Detachable tow bar will be fine for occasional use, have towed heavier and further without problems.

Yes, no problem. Was originally rated for the full 3500kg towing limit of the Disco.

Agreed, no issues as long as it is seated securely

I tow my Twin Axle with the detachable tow bar. I think as long as it is not damaged and is sitting in the housing correctly (passed the recall) it is fine to tow a TA through the caravan season

A fully laden livestock trailer day in day out, I think would be a different matter....

Just need to check that the trailer electrics plug is compatible with your towing socket, or get an adaptor.
