An old friend and neighbour of mine has recently lost his driving licience due to his deteriorating eyesight He has been a keen tin tenter all his life and now is facing the prospect of having to leave his caravan in one place for the season. My question is, I have a detachable tow bar for my D3 would it be sufficient to tow a twin axel 1600 Kg caravan about 25 miles or so from one site to another or for something this heavy should it really be a fixed one ? Thanks in advance The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

Detachable tow bar will be fine for occasional use, have towed heavier and further without problems.

Agreed, no issues as long as it is seated securely
I tow my Twin Axle with the detachable tow bar. I think as long as it is not damaged and is sitting in the housing correctly (passed the recall) it is fine to tow a TA through the caravan season
A fully laden livestock trailer day in day out, I think would be a different matter....

Just need to check that the trailer electrics plug is compatible with your towing socket, or get an adaptor.MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand
