Detacheable towbar movement? |
|
I got my D3 9 months ago and the lock on the detacheable towbar has seized so it is permanently on the car. I havent got round to purchasing the new lock & instructions yet to allow me to remove it. The towbar seems to be nicely "slotted" up into where it locates and I have towed the tintent all over the country with it with no problems...
But it was my lads birthday today and he wanted to take a million mates mountain biking in the local forest so we hired a large twin axle goods trailer from our local towbar/trailer centre. The proprietor there commented that he thought my towbar was faulty in that there is about a millimetre free play ie you can jiggle the towbar ever so slightly, which I assumed was normal, after all I didnt think the towbar would be an interference fit into its receiver. I also guess he hasnt seen many D3's as most will have some sort of LR kit on them.
So here's the question.. does anyone elses jiggle ever so slightly or are they rock solid

they jiggle over here as well... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Just leave it at home when you go for the MOT as they can now fail for towball movement. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Mine has some movement in it. I fitted my Altrea Strada a couple of nights ago and could move it ever so slightly. My first thought was that I hadn;t put it on properly, then I found out it was the tow bar that had the slight movement
