I'm a big fan of Zymol wax.

Not the really expensive stuff just the normal tenner a bottle stuff from Halfords.

This is how my 98 Boxster looked after a quick polish with it.

Will be applying some to the D3 when I get a moment.

Hi All,

Well I decided that I do not have the patience to carry out a full detail which the D3 needs, so in the garage next door I have Jay from Gleaming Kleen:

http://www.gleamingkleen.co.uk/

On his second day. It was very bad having suffered a lot of bramble rash. Jay says the paint is similar to Porsche and described it as sticky. Apparently sticking to the pads and making the job a tad more difficult.

Will post some pics when he is finished, or link to the thread he is going to put up on the detailing forum.

Regards

Chris

Hi All,

Jay is going to put pics up tomorrow. I will be away for a week on the Lake District on a photography holiday. So keep an eye out. Cost is about £500 for the two days which is pretty good and I got a bit of discount off that.

Keep an eye on the detailing forum:

http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/index.php

Will post the info next week in case you did not see it. Car looks great!

Best regards

Chris

Hi JKP,

Thanks for that, I was very tired last night and did not spot the link.

Very pleased with Jays work and truly amazed at how bad the car was. I always wash using the two bucket method, spray with QD then wipe off with a waffle weave cloth.

As I bought the car a year old and the garage have washed it a few times, I can only think that is where the swirls came from. Of course there is the bramble rash caused by off roading.

I was interested to see how thin the paintwork is and wonder how many D3's are the same. ie is it a D3 trait or perhaps only on black ones?

Best regards

Chris

Looks stunning Chris, top work Thumbs Up
I did note from his thread though that he's not looking to be in a hurry to do another one Laughing

WTF is RDS? Is it Really Deep Scratches?

Question for JKP, this paint 'stickiness', do you see it often on D3's & RRS's? & is the paint generally thinner on the D3 than other makes?

Cheers

Ian

PS, just got my tax refund confirmation, so expect a nice top up order soon Thumbs Up

Hi Ian,

I reckon he would do another! Certainly going to do mine again next year.

I think you are correct with RDS as there are a few from off roading.

It will be interesting to see if the paint is sticky on all D3's or just the black ones, same with the paint thickness.

Regards

Chris
