Device error message
Hello
I'm a newbie but got my discovery 4 xs about 3 weeks ago and have to say i love it, however I have a problem with the audio part of the car, It won't connect my iphone 7 so I can play my music, it connects through Bluetooth for calls but doesn't matter whether it's in the USB port or the Ipod connection (i bought the correct cable and adaptor for the ipod socket) it gives me a device error message, I have tried a few of my friends phones with the same outcome, It does play through an aux cable but of course I can't control it safely this way.
I have been in touch with landrover and they tell me there is no updates for the car and above it all I should be able to play through bluetooth, I have it booked in in December for them to try and help the issue but wondered if anyone else had had this issue and had it solved?
any help would be gratefully received

Does it play through the bluetooth connection rather than a cable? I cannot get mine to connect through the cable as I just get an unsupported device error on the screen of the phone, but I don't need it as I just play it through the bluetooth connection. Under the 'My Music' option on the Audio screen. You can see the track that is playing and move forward or backward using the steering control. Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE '65 - Projects in planning phase!

I had issues with my usb port with my 2011, had to remove the cup holders and the gear selector and disconnected the cable at the block under that cover, just reconnected it and they all worked then.Jaguar I-Pace HSE imminent.

My understanding is that the USB port does not support iPhones. It should work through the cable, as mentioned above you may have the wrong 30 pin to lightening adapter.
The bluetooth in the early D4s like yours and mine does not support music, only phone calls. I'm surprised your dealer didn't know that!
Your best solution would be to get a Bovee bluetooth adapter. This plugs in to the iPod cable, and you can stream music over bluetooth from your phone. You also have full control of the music from your stereo.
And the really nice feature is the phone will connect to both this and the factory bluetooth simultaneously, so you retain the factory set up for phone calls.
I got this device after reading reviews on this forum, and it's brilliant.
You can find it here (as well as from other vendors):
