Disc Rotor skimming

Does anybody know if Landrover recommend to not machine disc rotors when replacing pads. Had my local LR specialist replace pads without machining and was left with poor braking. Took it to my brake specialist who said discs should have been skimming but the previous mechanic said it was LR recommendation to not machine when replacing pads.
Thanks

If the disc’s need skimming it is cheaper to just replace them, the minimum thickness of discs is stamped on the outer circumference of the discs and should be 27mm, a new disc is 30mm, after a disc has been skimmed it may well not meet the safe recommended thickness and be scrap and unsafe to use.
Skimming a disc will not improve braking efficiency, if you have poor braking you have a problem elseware.
The simplest and cheapest way to improve braking on a D3 is to fit V8 discs, providing you do not have a fault elseware.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
